What if we could harness sunlight to illuminate windowless rooms or heat water without relying on large photovoltaic panels? System diagram designed by Smietana. Industrial designer Mariusz Smietana explored this idea and created Lumora , an invention that combines ancient concepts with modern technology. Lumora's objective is to transport sunlight to dark spaces, utilizing its brightness and heat. The system manipulates and regulates light, offering flexibility and personalization through various sources and cooling systems. By employing heliostats, Fresnel lenses, and fiber optics, Lumora aims to provide an alternative to artificial lighting, even in physically challenging spaces. The system concentrates sunlight with Fresnel lenses, directing it via fiber optics to a luminaire. During tests, Smietana used a panel with 16 independent Fresnel lenses and collimators . Lumora's unique feature is incorporating several small Fresnel lenses, increasing efficiency and adaptability
