Google sued three people who took advantage of the popularity of Bard artificial intelligence to defraud people and steal their data.

We are still waiting for this mythical year of Linux to come someday. For now, 2023 has been dominated by the topic of artificial intelligence. The popularity of AI-powered solutions, including tools such as Google Bard, has increased dramatically. Unfortunately, it is also a perfect opportunity for fraudsters who decided to take advantage of it.

Artificial Intelligence Scam

Google decided to sue three people who used the Bard tool in their fraud. The company referred to them as "DOES -13". They decided to post links to download Google Bard on social media. In fact, unknowing users downloaded malware that stole their data.

As public interest in new generative AI tools grows, fraudsters are increasingly taking advantage of unsuspecting users. We are seeking an injunction to stop fraudsters from setting up such domains and allow them to be disabled at US domain registrars. If successful, this will act as a deterrent and provide a clear mechanism to prevent similar frauds in the future.

The trial will be held in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose Division. Google sued scammers for trademark infringement because they used the company's logo in their scam. The tech giant is also demanding a ban on the further spread of the fake bard, as well as damages.

The fraud mainly targeted small companies. In this way, fraudsters obtained financial data of companies and exposed them to financial losses.
