Perplexity AI, an emerging AI startup, has introduced two new machine learning language models, pplx-7b-online and pplx-70b-online, designed to access real-time information from the Internet for accurate and timely responses. 

These models, accessible through the pplx-api and Perplexity Labs, utilize open-source technologies like mistral-7b and llama2-70b, enhanced with internal search infrastructure for web data extraction. 

Noteworthy for surpassing leading proprietary LLMs like GPT-3.5 in initial testing, the pplx-7b-online and pplx-70b-online models prioritize providing up-to-date and truthful information. 

Co-founded by former research scientists from OpenAI and Meta, the company has gained traction with 15,000 paying customers, showcasing its rapid growth and market acceptance.
